CLASSES

Pre-Ballet – Students ages 3 and 4 experience a creative and fun-filled approach to the basics of ballet.

Pre-Tap – Students ages 3 and 4 are introduced to the basics of movement, simple routine foot coordination, and very basic tap steps. 

Ballet – A technically structured class that is taught through barre work, across the floor and center combinations.  Students are taught the fundamental principles of ballet technique, including correct body placement, application and vocabulary.  Ballet is the basic foundation to all other dance forms.

Modern- Samples many forms of modern dance such as the Horton, Dunham and Graham techniques.  Designed to increase strength, stamina and flexibility.   Covers center and locomotive techniques and movement progressions. 

Jazz – Emphasis on general body technique and development, rhythm awareness, jazz styles, and rhythmic combinations and movement.

Hip-Hop – High energy, fast paced class, which helps to develop physical strength and rhythmic coordination.  Students learn a structured form of street dance and funk.  Aerobic endurance is a strong component of this style.

Tap – Class works proper technique, sound breakdown and traveling steps.  Focuses on musicality, rhythm, timing and tap terminology.

Boys Tap – All boys tap class for ages 7 through 17.   Course work covers proper technique, rhythmic combinations and tap terminology.

Liturgical – A combination of ballet and jazz techniques that incorporates a spiritual content.

African – Introduction to the traditional movements and folk dances of West Africa.  Students will be taught body/movement coordination, space awareness and value of community while recreating traditional dance.
